Featuring the vocals of Amber McClean, Barflyz is a five-piece performing all original material. Rock solid grooves, beautiful melodies, jazzy guitar riffs, smooth sax and uplifting beats all make for a great live experience.  So if you want to go funking with your head, looks like you've found the band to do it with.

The Story So Far

In 2003, bassist Steve and vocalist Amber shared a vision of how the ideal band should be – playing original melodic numbers geared toward getting the audience to dance their socks off, where the band enjoy playing as much as the audience enjoy the band.  Barflyz was born, and Steve and Amber set about recruiting additional quality musicians to the Barflyz cause, while creating new buzzing dancefloor inspired tunes.

In 2004, Barflyz is now a fully fledged five-piece consisting of vocals, bass, guitar, drums and sax, with a fine array of brand new rock solid grooves.  Every Barflyz track is an evolutionary melting pot of many different influences and their range of songs is diverse with something to please everyone. Jazz-Funk, Latin, Reggae, Dub, Drum’n’Bass, Acid Jazz and Soul all play vital roles in the coming together of the Barflyz vibe.

From Soul II Soul inspired furious funk, to the jazzy lovechild of Jill Scott & Led Zeppelin, to atmospheric Portishead-meets-reggae-style grooves, to Everything But The Girl -flavoured drum’n’bass to latin dub jazz, every genre is sacred in the Barflyz camp which means your ears are in for a workout.

The Musicians

Vocalist Amber’s bluesy tones and charisma make for a sexy soulful frontwoman.  Amber was brought up on a strict diet of jazz and Motown, and debuted her vocals in the showbiz world of the Paisley Wheelchair Experience.

Steve’s the master behind the kicking basslines that every Barflyz song is hatched from.  Steve has a passion for rare grooves and a natural talent for making people move their feet.  His mission is to rid the world of Mustang Sally.

Strat worshipper and Hendrix fanatic Tony loves to steal the limelight with his Jimi-inspired funky riffs and jazz solos. He teaches guitar, and also studies guitar at the Guitar Institute in London.

Denie rattles off the finest beats around, as long as he is supplied with Purdey’s and peanuts (the diva!).  Once he starts drumming, he just can’t stop and has to be forcibly removed from the premises.

Bajan-Cuban Izzi enriches the Barflyz sound with his deliciously smooth sax, bongos and backing vox.  He has quickly established his place as resident Mum-Magnet: one blast from his sexophone has mothers everywhere going weak at the knees.
