Joanne Curry - Audience Council England member, North East and Cumbria
Joanne is Chief Executive of Voluntary Organisations’ Network North East. She joined the organisation in 2006 as a policy manager and became Chief Executive in 2008. VONNE’s role is to support and promote a thriving third sector in the North East.
Originally a Solicitor with a commercial law firm in Cardiff, she specialised in Commercial Litigation. She left to raise a family and acted as a consultant to the Public Affairs Company - Welsh Context as the Welsh Assembly Government was in development.
Since moving to the North East in 2002 she has worked for the Citizens Advice Bureau setting up the Independent Complaints Advocacy Service in North East Prisons.
She is currently a director or trustee of a number of voluntary organisations in the region and in the past has acted as a Youth Justice Panel member and as an Appropriate Adult.
Joanne has significant experience of chairing and participating in meetings that involve people from a variety of backgrounds and interest groups. She has exceptionally strong networks both within the third sector, outside of the sector and beyond the North East region.
