Service review of BBC Local Radio
At the BBC Trust it is our responsibility to get the best out of the BBC for licence fee payers. One of the ways we do this is by carrying out an in-depth review of each of the BBC's services at least once every five years. We are looking at BBC Local Radio and as part of our review, we held a public consulation. The consultation ran from 06 October - 21 December 2011 and is now closed.
What happens next
We are currently analysing the responses to the consultation and will use these, alongside a range of other data and information when thinking about the future direction of BBC Local Radio. A final report setting out our conclusions will be published on the Trust website in late spring 2012. We will also consider if, as a result of both this review and the review of the overall scale and scope of the BBC, there is a need to trigger further formal regulatory processes as set out in the Charter and Agreement. This may lead to a Public Value Test which would involve further public consultation on specific significant proposals to change the service.
