Getting the best out of the BBC for licence fee payers

Register of interests

We have rules to make sure that our personal interests as Trustees don't conflict with the interests of licence fee payers.

All Trustees make public their personal and business interests. These include jobs, directorships and some kinds of shareholdings. We also make public the interests of our immediate families.

The details are set out in full in the Trustees' register of interests.

How conflicts of interest are managed

If a Trust meeting is to discuss something in which any Trustee has a personal or business interest, the Trustee must declare that interest. The other Trustees then decide if the Trustee in question should take part in the discussion or decision.

The minutes of the meeting record how potential conflicts of interest were managed.

Our rules on managing possible conflicts of interest are set out in our Code of Practice.
