The Trust sets the course for the BBC. We represent the public who own and pay for the BBC

Representing different audience viewpoints.

The Trust has big ambitions for the BBC to serve you better. We will support and challenge the BBC to do this, so that it maintains and deserves the high level of trust and affection you, the British public, tell us you have for it.

Who we are

The 12 Trustees, supported by the Trust Unit, make sure the BBC listens to the voice of the public

How we operate

We work openly. We make our decisions based on hard evidence and wide consultation

How we govern the BBC

The Charter and Agreement gives us powers to set BBC strategy, agree top-level budgets, and ensure standards are kept to through regular reviews

Audience Councils

Before making significant decisions we consult the public directly and through our Audience Councils

Complaints & appeals

If you feel the BBC isn't living up to the highest standards you have the right to complain to the BBC Executive
