Ruth Moilliet
b. 1971
Since studying art at Manchester Metropolitan University, Ruth has been inspired by the different structures, the engineered qualities and architecture of flower blooms. Her work explores the strength of nature and its proliferation through ongoing lifecycles.
Ruth uses predominantly stainless steel in her sculptures, which reflects the contradiction between the apparent delicacy of these flowers and the plants' ability to sustain existence.
While Ruth's work is currently concentrated very strongly around the allium, and the allium seed head, she also enjoys working with wild flowers and studying them growing in their natural habitat.
