Gillis de Berg
c1600-1669
Little is known about this Dutch painter. In 1624 he joined the Guild in his hometown of Delft, where he spent his entire life. A still life painter, he focused particularly on fruit, but he also painted interior scenes and figures. His early work is reminiscent of Balthasar van der Ast, and later influences are thought to be from Jan Davidsz de Heem. |
