Jamie Cullum
JAMIE CULLUM AT BRECON JAZZ 2003
Friday 23 July 2004 10.10pm-11.10pm

One of the highlights of the 2003 Brecon Jazz festival was this storming set from the charismatic young crooner whose star has ascended even further in the interim.

At the time the concert was recorded, the singer songwriter had been named Best Newcomer at the BBC Radio Jazz Awards and had just released Twentysomething, his huge-selling follow-up to the well-received Pointless Nostalgic album. His music ranges from covers of Radiohead and Hendrix to classic jazz favourites as well as songs penned by both him and his brother Ben.

Despite having to contend with being called "Sinatra in Sneakers" and "the David Beckham of jazz", the diminutive singer more than delivers in this summer-night showcase.
