Beethoven Uncovered: representation of the interactive service

BEETHOVEN SEASON ON BBC FOUR
Monday 30 May - Saturday 2 July 2005
As part of the BBC's Beethoven season - the BBC's largest ever focus on a single creative artist - BBC Four hosts a season of programmes and concerts. Highlights include Daniel Barenboim's piano masterclasses and our fully interactive series Beethoven Uncovered.

Charles Hazlewood   BEETHOVEN UNCOVERED
 Watch the whole series
Charles Hazlewood and a specially-formed period orchestra appear in three rehearsal/performance programmes, taking some of Beethoven's key works and analysing them in detail.

You can add another level to your enjoyment of Beethoven Uncovered, with our special interactive service. By pressing red on your digital handset you can access a visual guide or map of the music that complements Charles' explanation.

After the analysis of the work there's a chance to hear a full performance and this is where the interactive service really comes into its own. As the piece progresses you can see a visual representation of the different elements of the music accompanied by pithy notes tracking the structure, key change and tunes developed within it. Those of us who can't read music are given access to how and why Beethoven structured his pieces the way he did, deepening our enjoyment of the music.
