Renaud Garcia-Fons

RENAUD GARCIA-FONS

This French-Catalonian double bass virtuoso puts a traditional background instrument into centre stage. Renaud Garcia-Fons has a truly global approach to music and the results are often captivating.

Moving easily from Andalusian influences to the Far East, he is classically trained but his improvisational approach and drive to take the bass far beyond any perceived limits is very jazz.

He appears for this concert as leader of a trio, the other two members being flamenco guitarist Antonio Ruiz and percussionist Jorge Trasante. These songs were recorded in the beautiful church setting of St Andrew's In The Square.
