In PicturesComics Britannia: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Kevin O'Neill
Panel featuring Hyde in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, America's Best Comics (DC)Kevin O'Neill (born 1953)O'Neill started his comics career working on IPC's Buster, a children's humour comic, and as a colourist on several different titles. When 2000AD launched, he asked to be transferred to their office. He drew the first 2000AD cover before going on to Future Shocks and other stories. Working with editor/writer Pat Mills, O'Neill worked on Ro-Busters, Nemesis the Warlock, Judge Dredd, ABC Warriors, Marshall Law and more. He holds the (dubious?) honour of being 'banned' by the American Comics Code Authority who found his actual style, as much as any particular scene he had drawn, to be too distressing. O'Neill's style is often characterised as humorous, disturbing and 'grotesque' - a skill which put him in good stead to produce the classic League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as a series and graphic novel with Alan Moore. As one of the best artists in the comic world, O'Neill works closely with Moore's detailed scripts and they are soon to release the follow up instalment of LOEG: The Black Dossier.
