In PicturesComics Britannia: Kelly's Eye, Solano Lopez
Kelly's Eye from Valiant, 2 October 1963Solano Lopez (born 1928)Solano Lopez is one of the most influential comic book artists to emerge from South America. He began working in the British market after his politically aware science fiction series El Eternauta got him noticed by the authorities, prompting him to flee to Spain. Working for Fleetway in Madrid, and then London, he produced art for strips like Galaxus the Thing from Outer Space, Pete's Pocket Army, Janus Stark (for Smash and Valiant) and Kelly's Eye (Knockout and Valiant). He went on to do large amounts of work for the newly relaunched 1980s Eagle. Thanks to the amount of artwork Fleetway asked for, Lopez set up a studio in Buenos Aires. He would often do the pencil drawings and send them off for the studio to ink in and finish off. See a detail from this page. Featured artwork © IPC+ Syndication More about Lopez
