When released in cinemas in 1991 the film garnered attention for Madonna's backstage shenanigans: talking frankly about sex and religion, cavorting with her male dancers and insulting Kevin Costner after he calls her show "neat".
However the performance footage is an equally compelling reminder of why Madonna is the Queen of Pop. Her stage sets are as lavish as any Hollywood musical and as her talent shines through the screen Madonna's position as the ultimate pop star seems unassailable.
