The Labour MP Gerald Kaufman is a former political journalist. He chairs the Culture, Media and Sport Committee.

Peter Tatchell, one-time gay rights activist. His work now includes highlighting international human rights abuses.

Julia Langdon, a political journalist and biographer. In her long career, she's written for both tabloid and broadsheet papers.

Joshua Rozenberg, the Daily Telegraph's legal editor. Former BBC legal and constitutional affairs correspondent. He's just written a book, Privacy and the Press.

Tessa Mayes, an investigative reporter. She's edited books on press freedom.
