Azza El-Hassan has made a little gem of a film about the impossible circumstances in which Palestinians living in the Occupied Territories are reduced in order to survive.
Though you might forgive any Palestinian for wishing to make agit prop at this juncture in their history, Azza's film consists of a series of observational acts. She tells you about all the little things under threat. She makes you understand how Ramallah could one day be a nice place. But she also shows, in a sequence made within a local school, how the bitterness induced by occupation is transferred from generation to generation.
Someday I hope Azza will make the truly great Palestinian film. This is a marker on her road.
