Along with China, India is the great economic success story of our time. But how do you join the international economy if you are an Indian? Office Tigers chronicles life inside a company started by two Americans (Joe Sigelman and Randy Altschuler), which employs Indians in Chennai (once known as Madras) who sit up through the night doing clerical work for large US companies based in Wall street and the mid-west.

Liz Mermin is a gifted filmmaker with a keen anthropologist's eye. Detail is what she is after, and she captures a series of hilarious office moments. It would seem as if Indians are both desperate to sign up to international capitalism, and aware, too, of the cultural price they pay.

Office Tigers should be compulsory viewing - along with The Office, to whom it tips a hat - in any large scale, confused organisation. And I'm not just meaning the BBC. We worry about the Chinese eating us for breakfast, but will India do that too?
