Princess Diana by Gerald Scarfe
  GERALD SCARFE: DRAWING BLOOD
Thursday 8 January 2003 1.50am-2.40am

Gerald Scarfe: Drawing Blood looks at Britain’s leading political caricaturist, Gerald Scarfe as he embarks on a daring new commission.

For over four decades he has penned grotesque images in Punch, The Sunday Times, and Private Eye, but now Scarfe takes 35 of The National Portrait Gallery's portraits of Britain's national heroes - from Churchill to David Beckham, Delia Smith to Oliver Cromwell, and mercilessly transforms them into villainous caricatures.

Will his shocking, savage depictions of Princess Diana and Charles and Camilla be too much for polite society, and can he even offend Tracey Emin, the enfant terrible of the art world? Contributions from Michael Portillo, William Hague, Ian Hislop, Clare Short, Boris Johnson, Richard Ingrams, Harold Evans and Tracey Emin.
