Revd Katharine Rumens, Rowan Williams, Rowan Williams, Peter Owen Jones
EPISODE 3: GETTING THE JOB DONE
Tuesday 2 August 2005 1.30am-2.30am (Mon night)

In the final part of this behind-the-scenes look at the Church of England, the appointment of Rowan Williams as the new Archbishop is sending shock waves throughout the Christian community.

The conservative evangelicals, led by Chair of the Reform Group Revd David Banting, openly express their opposition to the appointment of someone who has knowingly ordained a gay priest. But for the Revd Chris Wardale and his partner Malcolm, the appointment offers "great hope" for the future. Female clergy such as the Revd Katherine Rumens are also optimistic that the new Archbishop will help improve the position of women in the Church.

Father Nicholas Wheeler has more pressing concerns with the future of his own Church, St Michaels, in doubt as it threatens to collapse into the adjoining Camden Road. While curate Jimmy Hinton is busy trying to reach out to younger people in his new parish in Bradford.
