Artist's representation of King Edward VII in a larder packed with brand names
  THE EDWARDIAN LARDER

When Edwardian explorer Captain Scott left his Antarctic base on his fateful journey to the South Pole, the supplies he and his men left behind were almost identical to today's kitchen staples. Heinz ketchup, Lyle's golden syrup, Colman's Mustard and Fry's chocolate were among the brands which stocked Edwardian shelves and which are still seen in kitchens all over Britain today.

Focusing on Typhoo tea, Perrier water, Cadbury's Dairy Milk and Marmite, this fascinating look at the birth of the brand shows how the Edwardian grocery business transformed itself by mass marketing and clever advertising.
