Have your say

Mary and Chunky join forces against the sheesha lounge, both worried that it will affect their profits. Chunky enrages Mary further when he suggests that it might start out as just flavoured tobacco, but it’s only a matter of time before they’ll be smoking opium. Chunky and his brother are going over there to have a word with Mani. Mary fears trouble and offers to speak to Mani herself as they are old friends. Mary heads off to the park then for the memorial walk Krishan has organised for Birdyman. When they reach Birdyman’s bench, everyone stops while Krishan reads a poem he’s written. Everyone is touched by the words as they realise how much Birdyman really did for the community. The gathered crowd decide to ask the council if they can erect a bird table in his memory.

Shazia has organised her dad’s packing but is still worried if he’s up to such a long and arduous journey. Dr Masud knows this may be his last chance to do hajj though and won’t be dissuaded. He still wants to see Shazia settled and makes a last attempt to arrange a meeting with a lawyer he knows is looking to meet someone. Shazia tells him straight, no more boring lawyers or doctors. If she’s going to meet someone it will be someone different, and surprising. She hurries out then for a meeting about the panto…with Dr Hassan.

When Shazia arrives home wet through from the rain she tells Dr Masud how Dr Hassan is auditioning for Widow Twankey in the panto. Dr Masud is not amused, he’d make a better Abanazar! He refuses to even look at the hajj booklet Dr Hassan sent for him and heads out into the rain on his own to meet Mary. He’s fed up that Shazia won’t meet any of the suitable men they lined up for her, yet at every mention of Hassan Bayoumi’s name her eyes sparkle. Mary can’t understand what she sees in him either. It was completely irresponsible of him to encourage Arun and Vinnie with the sheesha lounge. Dr Masud thinks it’s time to resort to their B list but Mary has another idea. She knows just the man, he’s dishy, has his own plumbing business and he’s doing very well. ‘Right’ says Dr Masud, ‘What’s his number?’
