Mushtaq JilaniLife before Silver Street

Our actors come from a variety of backgrounds and some of them had very unusual jobs once that have nothing to do with acting.  Find out what they used to get up to and get exclusive gossip on some of them here.......then let us know what you think by going to the Message Board.
Here is some of the stuff you didn't know....

Bharti Patel (Rita Chauhan) starred in the first play ever written by Silver Street's Script Editor.  Who was to know that all this time later she would have a leading role in the soap too

Sartaj Garewal (Kuljit Singh) graduated in Accounting and Finance and worked in a variety of City jobs before deciding to become an actor

Hema Mangoo (Jas Chauhan) and Clive Wedderburn (Sway Holloway) went to the same Drama school

Jay Kiyani (footballer Jaggy Singh) used to be an amateur boxer and went nude on stage once when he played Haroon in 'Buddha of Suburbia'

Renu Setna (Mani Ray) is a very well known face on our TV screens and has starred in a variety of long running programmes such as Only Fools And Horses and once worked as a navvy as part of his National Service

Carole Nimmons (Mary Brady) and Surendra Kochar (Kamla Dattani) are no strangers to soaps. They have both appeared in Coronation Street

In his spare time, Kee Ramsorrun (Sean Brady) enjoys making short films. He is a big Laurel and Hardy fan and is currently working on resurrecting them in the form of two bumbling street youths

Young Rakhee Thakrar (Roopa Chauhan) is one of three managing directors of a theatre company based in Leicester
