LIVES: In the Chauhan house
WORK: Retired from the Post Office.
CHARACTER: Kamla thinks she knows everything, and isn't afraid to say so, particularly to her daughter Rita. She's independent and strong, and can be extremely stubborn at times. She's also very proud, and hates to feel a burden on Rita and Pradeep. Kamla's a loving grandmother, and is particularly close to Jas.
STAR SIGN : Sagittarius

"When my husband died, I had no idea what I was going to do. I mean, I know I'm strong and independent and perfectly capable of living alone but that doesn't mean I want to. Rita and Pradeep were so kind to invite me to live in their home - I have to say I expected Jai to behave better - but I hate to feel indebted. Of course they never actually did anything to make me feel like that. Pradeep is so generous. He always treated me like his own family, and if you ask me he talks more sense than Rita. It upset me so much when he left after that dreadful Siobhan spread her lies about Pradeep being Sean's father. I always knew that couln't be true. But to find out that Jai was Sean's father! My goodness I had no idea. Sean is a lovely boy and I can see a lot of Jai in him.

"I was so happy when Jai came back and we could all be together, apart from Suresh of course. I don't know why Rita is always so suspicious of Jai's motives. She is so jealous of him that she will say anything to try and make me think badly of him. It's not as if she is perfect, so many times I've had to speak to her about the way she brings up the children. It's hardly surprising that they seem to be going off the rails, according to some of the things that Jai told me! I know things look bad at the moment with him disappearing and all the trouble with the house and the gym. Rita is dying to say "I told you so" but I'm sure it has all been just a terrible misunderstanding and Jai will be able to sort things out when he gets home......"

I'm glad I was able to spend some time with my other grand-children, Suresh's children. I'm sure their mother Ambika isn't bringing them up properly. She's so flighty, always here, there and everywhere with her cooks and her chauffeurs and her personal trainers! She needs someone to keep an eye on her. Suresh isn't home enough to do it so I did my best while I was in New York but she is tricky. Now I have another grandson to get to know, Sean. I just hope everything turns out alright with his father, my beloved Jai. "
