Jas

"Living at home was always like living in a zoo - there was so much noise I couldn't even think straight half the time. So now, I'm living at the Akhtar house with Sean.  A bit of privacy at last!

"Nani Ba's great though, and I really feel like I can talk to her more than Mum. Mum's always busy - she has more fun than I do! I've always had to be the grown up one. I feel like I've never been able to really let myself go, not like Arun who was always bunking off school, and won't get a proper job. Anyway, with Mum out and about all the time, it meant I always ended up doing half the work around the house, cooking, cleaning, or looking after Krishan - and of course now I've moved out Roopa gets landed with all that because she's a girl. Arun still gets away with murder!  I'm sure the stress of all the family resposibilities had a lot to do with her eating disorder. She seems to be making real progress now and wants us to treat her like an adult but it's hard not to see her just as my little sis still.

"I loved being a student but when I graduated I kind of lost focus. I knew I didn't want to be a journalist but I had no idea what I did want to do. I suppose I just drifted into working at the cafe, it wasn't exactly a career choice! When Uncle Suresh offered me the chance to work for him in New York I was so excited. I was worried about leaving Roopa and I kind of missed Vinnie at first, but we were hardly Romeo and Juliet were we? I had a ball there with Greg. Then I came back to Silverhill for a bit and have now returned to work in New York again, I love the jet-setting lifestyle!"
