Tsunami Audio Memorial
What is the Tsunami Audio Memorial? We are gathering 'sounds' and stories over the next six months for an historic 'audio' tribute to the region and the people affected by the Asian Tsunami.
What do we need you to do?
If you were asked what sound for you symbolises India or Sri Lanka, Indonesia or Thailand what would you say? We want to know what sounds are important to you and why. You may have stories of sounds and samples of audio which are related to the tsunami, for example, mobile phone messages, home movies, stories of reconstruction, of religious ceremonies. But we also want to capture the colour, vibrancy and diversity of the whole region with stories about sound which is not related to the tsunami including fishermen's songs, weddings, prayers, poetry and wildlife.
Please contact us with your stories of 'sound' and if you have some audio you can send us then that would be even better. We promise to return them. The sounds and stories will be crafted into a series of programmes which will be broadcast on various BBC networks at the end of the year.
