Programmes The BBC Asian Network produced a series of programmes looking into many facets of domestic violence. Listen again to the reports from this website, together with the discussions in the Language programmes.

Reports from the Domestic Front
Domestic violence is a major component of crime for all of the UK’s ethnic groups. But in the Asian community many women are blackmailed and intimidated into silence often to avoid shaming the family. Patriarchy, the collusion of the extended family, forced marriages, bigamy and the sexual abuse of children all leave blood under the carpet.

‘Reports from the Domestic Front’ reveal the secret horror of Asian home rage and the courage with which some women have fought back.’

Six reports which were broadcast in the Drive programme, on weekdays between February 14th and February 21st.
