In this Asian Network report British Bangladeshi Abdur Rahman goes to South Bangladesh three months after Cyclone Sidr devastated the country and killed thousands . Packing a mini disc he records his thoughts and what he see’s in a part of a country his never been to before. Teaming up with the charity Muslim Aid’s field worker Yahya the pair travel visiting cyclone centres and aid distribution sites.
While travelling Abdur comes across a boy who was practically swept away by the storm; another talks about his two brother’s who both lost their live. Twenty five year old Noor Jahan whose now helping to build a flood bank is trying to re-build her life after being left a widower. In this journey ‘After The Storm’ will Abdul’s experience leave him feeling frustrated or wanting to do more.
Gagan Grewal introduces 'After the Storm' after experiencing the cyclone first hand on the night of the 15th Nov 2007. He'd gone out to do a series of programmes ironically to do with climate change. He and everyone with him were rescued. It's an experience he says 'he'll never forget'.
