I may as well come clean; I have a soft spot for "our Shaz". I think we all do. She's a lovely little thing; friendly, helpful, eager. Was transferred into a clerical position within CID just over 2 years ago. The paperwork was non-existent before Granger arrived. It had become painfully clear that arrest sheets were being filled out weeks after the event and signed with gay abandon by DCI Hunt. Of course this is a time-honoured practice within a hectic Met but as I have repeated ad infinitum, we are moving into a different age and must be called to account even on silly pernickety things such as prompt, cogent arrest dockets. This is where Shaz comes into her own.
She has been to see me with regards her personal sense of fulfilment or lack thereof. But I have stressed to her that it takes many different cogs of many different sizes to make the machine work. Plus, why waste her out on the beat when she can rustle up such a cracking cuppa?! Granger has demonstrated a keen intelligence and diversity of knowledge encompassing literature, history and the arts. As impressive as this is, there is no call for it within the Met so I have asked her to keep such precocious behaviour to her private time so as not to create resentments amongst her colleagues.
Has developed a romantic attachment to DC Skelton (see above) which I am indulging for the foreseeable future although I very much hope (and expect) for it to fizzle out in the coming weeks.
Note; DI Drake is roping Granger in to a number of seemingly inappropriate "side projects" that as far as I can tell have no bearing on work. Will continue to monitor.
