Portrait of William Chaderton aged 63 in 1602 (this information is detailed in the Latin inscriptions on the top left and top right of the painting). He was the Bishop of Chester, 1579–1595, and Bishop of Lincoln, 1595–1608. He wears scarlet episcopal Anglican clerical robes, and is seated on a wooden chair holding a Bible in both hands. The painting however is formerly attributed to Marcus Gheeraerts the Elder.
