This painting depicts Bolton and West Ham playing in the First FA Cup Final in 1923 or the 'White Horse Final' as it came to be known. It was extremely overcrowded and a team of mounted policemen had to keep control. Constable George Scorey was the only one on a white horse (called 'Billy').
