This work is inspired by the Native American Indian name for the Cheyenne. The main theme of the painting is 'journey', with an unusual assortment of misplaced characters travelling through an afterlife, specifically the Roman Elysian Fields. Most are frozen in suspended animation, caught in a moment – lost either in their own thoughts or unable to move forward due to physical or psychological restrictions. Anubis the Egyptian God of the underworld is also represented on the right-hand side as a voyeur. The notion of rebirth is hinted at through the addition of the egg balanced upon the head of the African fertility figure (next to Anubis).
