Thomas Parr, known as 'Old Parr', was reputedly born in 1483 and thus lived under the reigns of ten monarchs. He was taken to London from Shropshire in 1635, presented to the king and enjoyed brief fame as the subject of John Taylor's pamphlet, 'The Old, Old, Very Old Man or the Age and Long Life of Thomas Parr'. He survived only a few months and died on 15 November 1635.
