This remarkable naive painting shows the rescue of the wrecked Buckland while she was returning from Newfoundland to Torbay in the winter of 1755. The ship was owned and commanded by William Bartlett of St Marychurch and was donated to the Museum by a decendant, J. S. Bartlett in 1884.
