This depicts Lancelot and Winifred, son and daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Townsend Benison. They lived at Adelphi Towers, Paignton. Lancelot entered the Church, but continued to reside at the family home. Winifred was engaged to a young man who was killed at Passchendaele (1917) during the First World War. She never married and became housekeeper to her younger brother.
Frank Salisbury received many royal commissions to paint state occasions such as coronations and royal weddings.
