Aldridge was a landscape painter, book illustrator and designer and was a member of the Great Bardfield Group based in the village of Great Bardfield, Essex. In 1938 he began designing wallpaper with Edward Bawden (another artist represented in the Beecroft Art Gallery) and they set up together as ‘Bardfield Wallpapers’.
Aldridge’s landscapes were mainly of Essex and, like those presented here, were often lively and richly coloured.
