On the right is the 'Hoy Head' which took supplies to Scapa Flow. Leaning against the beer barrels is James Hervey, Harbour Master. The dark drifter on the left ferried naval officers to the vessel permanently on watch in Hoy Sound. The light vessel next to it is a Norwegian whaler, employed in ferrying escapees from Nazi-occupied Norway. The coasters in the background have brought in army supplies.
