Beadon was born at Pinkworthy in Devon and became Master of Jesus College Cambridge in 1781. Having gained the favour of King George III he was made Bishop of Gloucester and three years later he came to Bath and Wells. He was regarded by his clergy and neighbours as kindly and hospitable. He restored the north wing of the Palace, which today is used as Palace Offices and the Residence of the Bishop's family and the Bishop's Chaplain. For the last few years of his life he was too ill to discharge his episcopal duties. He was buried at Wells Cathedral.
