This lady ran a grocers shop on the Brecon Road with her husband for many years. This is a typical example of the work done by Harris in his Merthyr studio.
The Harris family owned a portrait studio in Merthyr Tydfil during the late nineteenth century. George later moved to Cardiff and opened a studio in Queen Street. After World War One he and his family emigrated to Australia. The Museum is fortunate enough to have a number of George Frederick Harris paintings as well as a painting by his grandson, Rolf Harris.
