Charles M. Jones was a self-taught artist who was born in Pendlebury, Manchester. He was a member of the Salford Art Club and the Exhibitors Group and was Chairman of the Penton Painting Group for many years. Like his friend and fellow artist, L. S. Lowry (1887 –1976), Jones sought inspiration from the people, landscape and industries that surrounded him.
