HRH Prince Adolphus Frederick (1774–1850), Duke of Cambridge, was the seventh son of George III. He was the President of the Foundling Hospital, 1827–1850. This must be the last portrait of Cambridge, who was painted by Gainsborough as a boy (at Windsor), by Beechey and by Lawrence, as well as by a number of lesser artists.
