This shows Greengate, Stafford as it would have been in the early to mid-19th century. The shop in the foreground was a baker and confectioner. Next door was the Woolpack Inn, demolished to make way for the Baths Hotel in the 1890s. In the distance can be seen Chetwynd House (now the main Post Office) built in 1746 by William Chetwynd, and the top of St Mary's church tower.
