This painting is an unfinished version of 'Found' which deals with the fallen woman in contemporary Victorian society. Fanny Cornforth, Rossetti's mistress, modelled for the woman in the picture. A farmer bringing his calf to market in London at dawn comes across a woman he once loved. She has become a prostitute and tries to hide. The calf trapped in the cart symbolises the past and present life of the woman.
