A full-length portrait of the 1st Baron Penrhyn, seated at a desk with plan of 'CAE[RNARVONSHIRE]'. Lord Penrhyn's youngest daughter Adela records: `The sittings were very tedious to my Father, in spite of his appreciation of the good will which had caused their infliction, and when my Mother could not accompany him he used often to take me with him, although I was only a child, to Mr Wells' studio to help to while away the time.' Presented by subscription to the Town Hall, Caernarfon, and subsequently given to the National Trust.
