Dr H. P. Blackmore was a local physician and surgeon. He was also an antiquarian and collector with wide ranging interests in archaeology, ceramics and natural history and was instrumental in the establishment of both the Blackmore and Salisbury Museum. He was an Honorary Curator and Trustee of the Blackmore Museum and took over as Director of the museums after the death of Edward Thomas Stevens in 1878.
