The Breach House was built sometime between 1716 and 1720 at Dagenham Breach. It was rebuilt in 1792 and demolished in 1812, to be replaced by the Gulf House. The famous prison reformer Elizabeth Fry and her family holidayed at the Gulf House from the mid-1820s to the mid-1830s.
