Chapel Street is one of Luton's oldest roads. In the early 1800s, it was known as Hog Lane. The building of successive Methodist Churches led to the change of name. The painting shows the corner of Chapel Street and George Street before the London, County and Westminster Bank was erected in 1897. The bank was demolished in 1963.
