Cassandra was the daughter of King Priam of Troy. She was pursued by Apollo, who gave her second sight, but when she spurned his amorous advances he doomed her to see the future clearly, but never to have her prophecies believed. During the siege of Troy she predicted the Greek siege of the city behind the Trojan Horse and recognised Paris as the destroyer of the city.
