Broomfield House was acquired by Southgate Council in 1903 and became home to a local museum. This is an image of the Museum from the mid-twentieth century. Unfortunately, in 1984, an electrical fault led to a small fire which led to the museum's closure, and the collection to be moved to Forty Hall whilst repairs were conducted. However whilst empty, an arson attack left the museum and the building in a devastating condition and the museum was unable to return there. Since then there have been a number of plans to restore the listed building.
