Archibald Sayce was an orientalist and comparative philologist; educated at Queen's; Fellow, 1869; tutor and ordained, 1870; Professor of Assyriology, 1891–1915. He travelled widely, was a friend of John Ruskin and travelled with Walter Pater. He left many books to the library.
