Upon Sir Peter's death in 1948 it was discovered he had been successfully leading a double life for more than 20 years with two wives and families, one in Birmingham and one in Warrington.
By his wife in Birmingham, Letitia Rose Tynan, he was the father of Kenneth Tynan the influential and often controversial English theatre critic and writer.
