This rescue barge was stationed in the North Sea during World War II. These craft, code-named 'Cuckoos', had no engines and were moored along the bomber routes tot occupied Europe. Their role was to provide emergency shelter for the crews of downed aircraft, and each craft contained vital equipment and supplies.
